Abortion on Demand is the Shame of America

I have some baggage to unload, so please excuse me if I’m blunt.

The Left’s obsession with the right of a woman to destroy her unborn child is disgusting.  There are other words as well: heartbreaking, barbaric, inhuman.  As Democrats have difficulty in defining what a woman is, I’m having some trouble myself.  I used to think a woman was a giver-of-life, nurturing and protective of her babies – putting them ahead of all other things.

The Radical Feminist Movement changed all that.

Now, a child in the womb is dehumanized and simply removed when inconvenient.  A “successful” abortion always means the end of a life.  Of all the things given to us by God, without life, we have nothing.  And Democrats seem not to care.

Abortion is the shame of America.

Of all the things we argue about in politics, this ought not to be one of them.  Our Founders knew that life was everything.  In the Declaration of Independence, “life” comes before “liberty” and “pursuit of happiness.”

The current thinking within the Democrat Party reverses the order.

If a woman becomes pregnant and doesn’t want a child, then having one interferes with her pursuit of happiness.  To Democrats, that comes first, and life comes in last.  I’ve always thought that abortion is not mentioned the Constitution only because the Framers never considered that our nation would become as jaded as it has.  Perhaps they would have included a “right to life” in the Bill of Rights, had they known what was to come.

Instead, we’ve seen the Hard Left, including left-wing Supreme Court Justices, find a “right to privacy” in the Constitution that isn’t there – and that led to Roe v. Wade and the ensuing killing of millions of innocent babies that never got to be born.

Thank God for a Supreme Court that reversed this madness.

We have no idea who we’ve killed.

Think about this:  what if George Washington’s mother had never wanted him?  What if Abraham Lincoln’s mother, or Ronald Reagan’s or Paul McCartney’s or Margaret Thatcher’s had not wanted them?  The abortions of these of these people would have changed the world.  Yes, some future mass murderer may have been aborted, but that’s little consolation.

Over the years, since Roe v. Wade became the so-called “law of the land,” there is no telling how many human beings have been killed that would have become important historical figures.  Maybe it doesn’t matter to you—but it matters to me.

The greatest thing that ever happened to me was that my parents wanted me.

I have come to believe – in these dark days of unwanted life – that having parents that wanted you and loved you is the greatest gift.  Rudolph Walton Woolley, one of five boys born to John Wallace Woolley and Amanda Hogan Woolley, picked cotton to pay the expenses for my birth.  He had married LaVerne Strange of Moody, Texas, the daughter of Jimmie Gent Strange and James Commodore Strange, while serving in the Air Force.   They were married in Roswell, New Mexico where he was stationed at Roswell Air Force Base.  They badly wanted a child, but had difficulty getting pregnant.

Finally, eight years later, I came along, and I became the focus of their lives.  As they aged and especially when my mom got cancer, they were the focus of mine.  I will always revere them and hold them up for the way they raised me and for the values they instilled in me – mostly through the way they lived their own lives.  They set the example, and I stayed out of trouble mostly for fear that I would be a disappointment to them.

Why is it so different today?

Today’s political Left holds that a woman (which they can’t define) should not have to bear a child if she doesn’t want to.  I agree that a woman who doesn’t want child has a right not to become pregnant.  That’s a given.  But babies ought not to be disposable like an old pair of gloves that you just toss in the garbage.  There is a big difference in a right not to get pregnant and the right to terminate a pregnancy.

It’s like flying.  No one should force you to get on an airplane.  But once you do, it’s wise to remain on the plane.  Terminating a flight in progress involves major consequences.  There are other ways to travel, and there are many ways to prevent a pregnancy starting with sexual abstinence to birth control to surgical means.

But what about rape, incest and life of the mother?

If we as a county could come to an agreement that those three things would be exceptions, that’s a conversation I’m willing to have.  I would want to see the terms of course, but if that were our national policy, millions of lives would be saved.

Video: In the 1970s, Ronald Reagan expressed commonsense and compassionate views on abortion.

My thought is this:  in no instance is the unborn child ever to blame.  A pregnancy is always the result of what adults do.  But rape and forced incest are also bad and are crimes.  In a real case of the life of the mother, then her life should take precedence.  Unfortunately, we live in a time of woke medicine – but when a mother’s life is medically be at risk, we should act accordingly.

When you kill someone…

When you take someone’s life, you take away everything that person has or over will have.  Without life, there is no liberty and no pursuit of happiness.  That’s why murder is a capital crime and is often punishable by death.  That’s why we call the killing of an unborn child “abortion,” or “choice.”  It’s impossible to make it legal if we call it what it is.

In the recent presidential election, one party – the Democrats – made abortion its number one issue.  Think about it.  One of our parties is so crass and uncaring that the supporting of killing the innocent was their top issue.  They called Donald Trump “Hitler” and “fascist,” but what did Hitler do?  He killed a class of people – the Jews – that he did not want and who were unable to protect themselves from his concentration camps where they were sent to die.

In our modern American society, we have a class or people – unborn babies in the womb – that some people don’t want and who cannot protect themselves.  In this scenario, who is really Hitler?

A long time ago, I read an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal about how many big-name Democrats used to be pro-life, but changed in order to get elected.  This made me sad.  Then came Kamala Harris who carped on and on about a woman’s right to control her own body.

Never once have a heard a pro-abortion Democrat have a scintilla of compassion for the child in the womb who may have everything taken from him that he would ever have had.  That child will not go to school, make friends, play music, meet that special boy or girl, get married, start a company, become President of the United States – or have children of his or her own.

Watching Harris and other jaded Democrats make pitches for votes on the basis of having the right to kill an unborn child sickened me.  Is this where we are? Is this where we have come?  An even bigger question: is this where we will continue to go?

Life is everything on this Earth.

Without life, what do you have?  Well, nothing.  You have nothing.  Yet pro-abortion America has reduced an unborn child to a choice.  It sickens me and it is why I can never vote for any Democrat or any pro-abortion Republican such as most of the Bushes.

I can understand why former Vice President Mike Pence opposes Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. since Kennedy is pro-abortion.  I have been open to RFK Jr. if he can succeed in making our food supply safer by removing the harmful chemicals that are pumped into processed food.  But I sympathize with Pence’s position.

A mother’s decision.

Let’s say a pregnant woman decides to have an abortion, but at the last second, she changes her mind.  My experience has been that six months after that baby is born, it will be the light of her life.  Whether she marries the father or not, she will love that child with all her heart and soul.  As she grows old, she will thank God she did not have that abortion.

That’s human nature.  We love our children and protect them with our own lives.  We’d sacrifice ourselves for them.  And yet, we have a movement in America for “choice,” — for the right to destroy a person that has the potential to become a loving son or daughter.

I thank God that my parents wanted me, that I wanted my daughter, and that she wanted my awesome grandchildren.  And I thank God that America saw fit to keep a radical, far-left, uncaring, political opportunist like Kamala Harris out of the White House.
