Russian President Vladimir Putin Among History’s Most Brutal Murderers

There are two ways to deal with one’s political enemies.  One is to indict them, try them, convict them, and try to send them to prison.  That didn’t work against Donald Trump, but give Democrats credit for trying.

The other way is simpler and more permanent.

Just have your opponents murdered and make it look like an accident.  That’s the Vladimir Putin way.   There is no way to get an accurate accounting of how many people Putin has ordered killed.  Sometimes it’s by shooting, sometimes by poisoning, and who knows what else. That’s why it irritates me when some people talk about what a great guy he is.

Putin is nothing of the sort.

He’s a bloodthirsty monster who maintains power by knocking off anyone who opposes him.  Let’s hope that President Trump is fully aware of this as he negotiates with this brutal dictator.

I hear it from time to time: Putin is a fine Christian, or Putin is just trying to defend his country’s best interests.

The fact is that Russia could be a great member of the world community, but Putin, like Xi has other ideas.  He wants to rule the country forever and is perfectly comfortable with state control of the media and rigging elections to stay in power forever.

When term-limited out, he put Dmitry Medvedev in office as a placeholder.  Once back in power, he cemented his hold on the presidency.  Challenge him – and you’re likely dead.

Why, then, does President Trump often say nice things about him?  Why does Tucker Carlson?

Trump and people who are part of his inner circle are often ridiculed for being weak on Putin.  That includes newly-minted Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, which is one reason I opposed her.  Carlson can speak for himself, and regularly does.  You can watch his show on X and form your own opinion.

As for Trump, there are frequent mentions of four-dimensional chess.  That is to say that Trump makes a move, usually totally unexpected, and then waits to see what his opponent’s move will be.  We’re seeing it with tariffs, and we’re seeing it with Trump’s determination to end the war in Ukraine.  This is something you never saw from Biden.

Slow Joe was completely transparent.  He told Putin, “don’t,” and then went to the beach to relax.  He once seemed confused when a reporter asked if he was talking with Putin in an attempt to end the war.  The idea had apparently never occurred to him.

It’s different with Trump.  He seems to genuinely want to stop the killing, and he’s sending out feelers to see what might be possible.  He’s even started a feud with Ukrainian President Zelensky, probably to the delight of Putin. But will Putin be surprised later when Trump makes another unexpected move?   With Trump, you never know.

I just hope President Trump goes into any negotiation with the Russian president with his eyes wide open.  And, if you want some proof that Putin is, like Corn Pop, a bad dude, here it is:

Here’s a brief list of people that (almost certainly) were murdered at Putin’s order.

You can find the list in many places, and it will vary because – who really knows for sure?  My source here is an article by Andrew Roth from the February 16, 2025 edition of The Guardian.

  • Alexei Navalny was an opposition leader and political prisoner who was likely murdered after being banished to a prison in the Arctic circle.
  • Alexander Litvenenko, a former member of the FSB security service and a Putin opponent, died of polonium-210 poisoning.
  • Sergei Skripal, who had been convicted of treason, and his daughter Yulia were targeted with a nerve agent brushed onto their doorknob.  They survived, but a woman who had no connection with them died from exposure to the agent.
  • Yevegny Prigozhin, former head of the Wagner paramilitary group, was on Putin’s enemies list after an aborted mutiny. He died in an explosion aboard his regional jet.  Field commander Dmitry Utlin and eight others on board also died.
  • Boris Nemtsov, an opposition leader and former deputy prime minister was shot four times in the back.
  • Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist critical of Putin, was shot in her apartment building.
  • Boris Berezovsky, a former Kremlin insider who became of Putin critic, was found hanged in his own bathroom. Many of his associates also turned up dead for unknown reasons.

These are some of the obvious likely Putin murders.  There are also reports of other prominent Russians dying under mysterious circumstances.

And don’t forget the “tragic incident” in which an Azerbaijani airplane was shot down by the Russians, killing 38 people.  Putin apologized to his counterpart from that country but did not admit that Moscow was responsible.  According to Putin’s statement, Putin apologized “for the fact that the tragic incident occurred in Russian airspace.

Then, there’s the mounting death count in the Ukraine War, a war that Putin started when Biden seemed to give him permission.  This is from Wikipedia:

Casualties in the Russo-Ukrainian War include six deaths during the 2014 annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, 14,200–14,400 military and civilian deaths during the War in Donbas, and up to 1,000,000 estimated casualties during the Russian invasion of Ukraine till mid-September 2024.

The guy, in short, is a monster.  That is who Trump is dealing with.

Can we please stop with any semblance of fawning over Comrade Vlad?

Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine, as do I.  Biden was incompetent and had no idea of what to do, nor did his weak-kneed Secretary of State Antony Blinken.  The entirety of the Biden presidency was weak and inept and served only to keep the war going so that thousands of soldiers from both sides and Ukrainian civilians were killed.  The cost of actually winning the war would be high in both blood and treasure.  Ending it may be the best thing to do, and that’s where Trump seems to be.

Video:  CBS News reporting on how the White House had to clean up one of Joe’s verbal messes prior to the invasion.

But don’t be surprised if Trump’s methodology changes suddenly.  If Trump doesn’t get the result out of Putin that he wants, Trump may become a bitter adversary to the Russian dictator.  Trump is – in my opinion – the world’s top negotiator.  Maybe he’s too easy on Putin.  But maybe it’s four-dimensional chess.  Maybe Trump knows what he’s doing.  For the sake of the world, I hope so.  I also hope that Trump is fully cognizant of the fact that Putin would serve him a polonium-210 milkshake if it ever came to that.

Putin is among the most brutal, conscience-free murderers that ever walked on Earth.  That’s an irrefutable fact that President Trump and all Americans should keep in mind.
