Antisemitism Sickness Spreads in Both Parties

Adolph Hitler portrait 1938 (By Bundesarchiv, Bild)

Let me remind you that in World War II, Adolph Hitler committed genocide against European Jews, killing roughly six million of them.

Antisemitism in Europe fueled a Zionist movement for a Jewish homeland, and with British support, Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948, after which came the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

Antisemitism – hatred of the Jewish people – dates back to ancient times, and it flourishes today in both our political parties.

Hatred of Israel is rampant on many college campuses.  And it’s combined with radical conspiracy theories spread on social media by certain notable podcasters who used to have cable shows on Fox News.  The Republican Party is infected, but the Democratic Party has moved hatred of Israel from the fringe to the mainstream.

Alan Dershowitz speaks out.

The famed lawyer and commentator who first registered as a Democrat in 1959 says he can’t be part of the Democratic Party anymore.  Writing in the April 20, 2026 edition of the Wall Street Journal, Dershowitz said:

The Democratic Party has become the most anti-Israel Party in U.S. history.  Last week all but seven Senate Democrats voted for an arms embargo against the Jewish state, and an avowed enemy of Israel, Abdul El-Sayed is gaining ground in the campaign for U.S. senator from Michigan.  There is no doubt that the hard left, anti-Israel wing of the Democratic Party has moved from the fringe to the mainstream.

Dershowitz, who will maintain his pro-abortion stance even as a Republican, says this shift in the Democratic Party is a radical approach that is bad for America and the free world.

Kamala Harris and the “Trump is a puppet of Netanyahu” trope.

It’s not just the addled mind of Joe Biden’s vice president, who could very well be nominated for a second try.  It’s everywhere you look.  Here’s what Harris said during the fundraiser in Detroit:

[Trump] entered a war, got pulled into it by Bibi Netanyahu, let’s be clear about that.  He entered a war that the American people do not want, putting at risk American service members.

No one “wants” a war, but Harris could not help herself from latching onto the idea that, somehow, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is controlling President Trump.  You may recall that some Democrats had a hard time praising “Operation Midnight Hammer” that attempted to “obliterate” Iran’s ability to enrich uranium and use it to make nuclear weapons.

Beyond that, for 47 years since the Iranian Revolution that upended the Shah, Iran has been the major sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East.  No president, certainly not Obama or Biden – has stopped them or their proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.  Future presidents of both parties will owe a debt of gratitude to President Trump for vastly weakening the IRGC, even if he can’t take them out completely.

As for Netanyahu, he obviously sees the Iran War as a chance to take out Israel’s biggest enemy that refers to his country as the Little Satan and teaches its children that the Israelis are pigs and dogs.  If you were prime minister of Israel, that’s what you’d do, too.

Antisemitism, pro-Palestinian protests on left-wing college campuses.

Perhaps it’s the fault of indoctrination by left-wing professors, but in 2024, anti-Israel protests spread like wildfire on college campuses.  Per Wikipedia:

The escalation, nicknamed by activists the “student intifada”, began on April 18 after mass arrests at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University, in which protesters demanded the university’s disinvestment from Israel. Over 3,100 protesters were arrested in the U.S., including faculty members and professors, on over 60 campuses. Protests spread across Europe in May with mass arrests in the Netherlands, 20 encampments established in the United Kingdom, and across universities in Australia and Canada.

Why would college students side with the Palestinians in such numbers, even though Israel has as much claim to its homeland – and probably more – than any other people?  Indoctrination is one answer.  The other answer is that it’s always in season to hate the Jewish people.  Always.

Podcasters and conspiracy theorists join the anti-Israel bandwagon.

In an excellent op-ed entitled A Sickness Spreads, talk show host Erick Erickson runs down a list of Israel detractors that he says even extends to the Vice President of the United States.  Let’s take a closer look.

Candace Owens, who was admired by millions of people, including me, when she was a Fox News contributor, spreads conspiracy theories about a woman whose husband was murdered, likely by a radical supporter of the transgender community.  Here’s what Erickson wrote about her:

After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, podcaster Candace Owns turned her wrath of Kirk’s widow, Erika.  Owens began perpetuating conspiracy theories about Mrs. Kirk with a heavy implication that she was somehow tied to Israel, which itself was tied to Mr. Kirk’s assassination.

This is utter bullshit.  Sorry, but there’s no other word to describe it.  Show me the proof, or shut up – and the proof had better be good.  But there is no proof.  It’s just another trope related to how easy it is to hate Israel and to blame the country for virtually anything.

According to Erickson, Owens’ idiotic claims have been “excused” by two former Fox New giants – Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly.  Why?  Who knows?  Israel is just so easy to hate, I suppose.

Some names you need to know when it comes to hatred of Israel.

Let’s start with Theo Von, a comedian-turned-podcaster and friend of Owens’ who has been cited by no lesser a light than Vice President J.D Vance.  Vance is reported to have urged young people to listen to Von.

And how about this guy:  Graham Platner, who appears to be a communist running for the Maine senate seat held by Susan Collins.  The Democrats love him.  They call Trump a Nazi all the time, but have no problem with Platner, who sports a Nazi Totenkopt tattoo on his chest, a symbol associated with the SS during the Holocaust.  (Note that many Israel haters deny the Holocaust ever happened.)  Platner has defended Hamas and (according the Erickson) has suggested to rape victims that they wear Kevlar panties.  He is the leading Democrat candidate in Maine as this is written.

We can’t leave out Hasan Piker, a Communist sympathizer who is known as a big supporter of Chairman Mao and the old Soviet Union, and who Democrats seem to flock to.  And, of course white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who got a nice long interview on Tucker Carson’s podcast, sans any hard questions.

This is why I won’t be supporting JD Vance as Trump’s replacement in the MAGA movement.

We have better candidates to choose from – such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Secretary of State Marco Rubio – who are not (at least not yet) associated with antisemitism.  However, the sickness appears to be contagious and spreads from country to country, from campus to campus, and from podcaster to podcaster.

The Iran War seems to be the world’s best chance to stop an evil regime from its plans that include Death to America and Death to Israel.  You know:  From the River to the Sea.

President Trump isn’t finding it as easy as he thought to take out the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and much of the Congress and the world has lined up against him.  The President did a lot of things wrong when this war kicked off.  He ought to have gotten the Congress behind him as well as the European allies.  But who will shed any tears if the Iranian regime is no longer a threat to Israel or America or to its Arab neighbors?

I believe that Israel will live in peace with all of it neighbors if given the chance.  I believe the world will be better off with Iran’s military and nuclear threat destroyed.  That leaves a final question.  When all is said and done, will activist professors and college students still hate Israel?  Will the Democrats and the rogue podcasters still hate it?

As much as I hate to say it, history says they will.
