Season of Impeachment (Audio)

‘Tis the season! No, not that one. This one is dangerous. It’s the season of impeachment and how it will end is anyone’s guess.

Political Pursuits’ Lou Ann Anderson and Planet Logic’s Lynn Woolley discuss Trump’s impeachment history and how it relates to today’s potential impeachments of Joe Biden, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and even Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The double-header Trump impeachments of 2019 and 2021 set the stage for an unbridled, clearly escalated overreach of federal power. And disturbingly, “the people” now seem increasingly left out of the political equation as too many elected representatives often appear more as agents not for those by whom they were elected, but for powerful and special, seriously monied interests with spurious agendas.

This aiding and abetting – or at least signaling of tacit consent via silence – by elected representatives coupled with a well-oiled though unelected, unaccountable bureaucratic structure operating within government reflects why many Americans no longer believe the federal government operates with the “consent of the governed.”

Join Lynn and Lou Ann for a fast-paced review of how we got here and where we might be headed.
