Iran is a Problem and Trump is a Problem Solver
I think that’s the way President Trump sees it.
Make a list of the problems: the open border, voter fraud, the Swamp, keeping Republicans in power, Iran…and then go about solving them. One thing Trump has over past presidents is that he doesn’t seem to realize that the Middle East is the world’s longest standing problem. It can’t be fixed.
But since he doesn’t know that, he’s moving ahead with his plan to remove Iran as a threat to America.
Presidents Obama and Biden both tried appeasement, but that’s not Trump. Other presidents were not anxious to attack Iran, even as the mullahs worked to join the nuclear club.
But as I’ve said on the radio, America has been on a path towards war with Iran since 1979. If not now, then when? If not Trump, then who?

A short memory refresher is in order for just a few of many attacks on Americans and Israelis that Iran committed in the open or may have backed.
Since the Iranian revolution of 1979 that returned Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to power, Iran has made it clear it hates America and our way of life. It started with the Iran Hostage Crisis when 66 Americans were taken hostage at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran demanding extradition of the deposed Shah Reza Pahlavi.
52 of the hostages were held up to 444 days, and were released after President Ronald Reagan had been sworn in and was in the process of delivering his inaugural address.

Two suicide bombers, claimed by the terrorist group Islamic Jihad, set off two truck bombs near barracks housing U.S. and French members of a multinational peacekeeping force during the Lebanese Civil War.
307 people lost their lives including 241 American servicemen and 58 French military personnel, six civilians and the two bombers. The attack killed 241 U.S. and 58 French military personnel, six civilians and the two attackers. There is no consensus, but Iran’s fingerprints are all over the attacks, and maybe even an early version of Hezbollah was part of it.

The attacks of October 7, 2023
Today’s Iran, under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (R.I.P.) is just as bloodthirsty as ever. On October 7, Iran, led by Hamas and other terrorist groups, perpetrated a sneak attack on southern Israel. It began with a barrage of about 4,300 rockets before Hamas militants breached the Gaza–Israel barrier, and attacked military bases and civilians in 21 communities and at the Nova Music Festival.
The day is considered the bloodiest attack on Israel since the Holocaust with 1,195 people slaughtered including 828 civilians and 36 children. Stories of brutal murders, rapes and sexual atrocities were reported. These three atrocities represent a fraction of the problems, Trump decided to fix.

Trump is not like other presidents.
He sees Iran as a thorn in the foot that must be removed. While President Obama sent money on pallets and President Biden freed up sanctioned money, Trump sent B-2 Bombers to take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities in Operation Midnight Hammer.

When it became apparent that even then Iran would never give up its pursuit of nukes, Trump decided to take out their ability to wage war. The administration tells us the Iranian navy has been sunk. America and Israel have control of Iranian airspace. But it’ not as easy as building a skating rink in New York. Trump sees that now, and maybe the Republicans will lose the mid-terms over the high cost of war and gasoline. But some president, sometime, had to take this action and let the political chips fall where they may.
The idea that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is manipulating Trump is ridiculous.
It’s almost certainly true that Netanyahu approached Trump with intelligence that about 49 of Iran’s top mullahs and clerics were going to be together for a meeting, and might be sitting ducks. It was an opportunity that might never happen again. Israel took them out including the current Ayatollah. The war was on. We don’t know how long it will last.
I think Trump is hoping that the current regime will continue with a softer attitude and a totally destroyed military. Or maybe hopes that some great leader will emerge. Neither of these things is likely, but it’s also not possible to have a worse situation than what Trump and Netanyahu just removed. Trump’s goal was to take out Iran’s missiles and drones and remove Iran’s ability to create a nuclear weapon. Netanyahu wanted the evil regime destroyed. Do you blame him? Iranian children are taught that Israel is the Little Satan and America is the Great Satan, and that the Israelis are pigs and dogs and should be driven into the sea.

That’s what Israel has lived with since 1948. All that could be over in a matter of weeks or months. Iran may slip back into its old ways, depending on what replaces the Iranian Islamic Theocracy. The next American president may very well want to wash his/her hands of the entire mess. But Israel will not sit idly by and allow the Republic to reconstitute.
Why now? The next president may be a Democrat, and Democrats are not fond of the Jewish people right now. Why Trump? No other president would even think about doing what he’s done. Think about this: even if Trump pulled out today and the war stopped in its tracks, Iran would probably not be able to rebuild its military for a decade or so. Of course, Russia and China might help them, but those countries have their own issues to deal with.
We don’t know what we don’t know.
But we do know this. Trump saw a problem and made moves to solve it. It may turn out like Reagan and the Cold War or it may turn out like Kennedy and the Bay of Pigs. We’ll see over the coming months and years. One thing is for sure. Whether the next president is JD Vance or Marco Rubio or Ron DeSantis, Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom – he or she will not face a threat of a nuclear Iran. For now, at least, that problem is solved.
