Stupid Things Democrats Do
Much is being made of a long-awaited post-election “autopsy” of why Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump. The autopsy, belatedly released by Democratic National Committee chair Ken Martin, is a litany of the obvious.
Had the DNC tuned in to AM talk radio, they’d have heard about all these grievous errors in real time. We told them every single day.
Stuff such as: Kamala Harris cannot complete a sentence. Joe Biden’s mental capacity is diminishing. Socialism and communism don’t work. You cannot surgically remake little boys into little girls and vice versa. Men should not compete in women’s sports.
AM talk radio also speaks to Republicans.
We’re not afraid to give some sage advice to President Trump. Do either of the parties listen to us? They should. But they don’t.

Democrats doubled down on things that seem insane to a normal person.

Political consultants often talk about winning elections with “kitchen table” issues. They’re not wrong. They’re talking about the kind of problems families face when the money coming in is less than the money going out. But politicians are usually far wealthier than the general public, and they have trouble relating to such things. Bad on them.
Note that all the things mentioned above do not mean a hill of beans to a family that is in distress over money, health, loss of a job, or a variety of other social ills.
When Al Gore or Alexandria Ocasio Cortez tells us for the umpteenth time that the world has ten years before it’s destroyed by climate change, that solves nothing for a struggling family.
These predictions never come true, and yet left-wing cities like Austin will spend millions on climate change abatement, get zero results, and keep right spending the money. That’s insane.
Democrats champion LGBTQ rights, and that’s fine. Love who you want to love. Most Republicans agree with that, and there are no longer any laws to prevent it. But same-sex marriage forced us to redefine words like “husband” and “wife.”
And the transgender contagion has resulted in lawsuits and unhappy people trying to de-transition. The Party of Science abandoned science in this instance, and many children paid a high price. They’re discovering that they can’t have normal sexual activities, and they can never be put back together like they once were. And again, the LGBTQ agenda does not put food on anyone’s table.

When Supreme Court nominee and now Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson claimed that she could not define the word “woman,” she effectively disqualified herself. No one that dumb should be near a black robe. She was only adhering to the current zeitgeist of the Party – that sex, or “gender” (as the Left claims), is fluid. But it isn’t, and claiming it is does not put gasoline in the tank.
Then there’s New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s government-run grocery stores, and experiment in “the warmth of collectivism” that will fail because socialism always leads to misery. Literally, Mamdani is trying to put food on the table. But the private sector always does a better job than government and at less cost.
Here’s a real-world example: The Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare) was going to make it possible for all Americans to have affordable health insurance. It set up mandates and markets for these policies. But Obama’s claim about keeping your doctor and so forth didn’t always work out, and his plan required massive government subsidies to work. That’s socialism. Mamdani’s grocery stores will have to be subsidized as well. That means redistribution of wealth. And that leads to less production and shortages.

The lessons of the 2024 presidential election.
Here they are: You cannot run a candidate, even if he is the incumbent with obvious cognitive deficiencies to the point that he could not survive a televised debate without severe mental lapses. Of course, that was Joe Biden. And you cannot promote his vice president to the top of the ticket when she was chosen by skin color and sex rather than by merit. Harris was then, and is now, not capable of cogent thought.
Video: Yes, folks, this was their nominee and they wonder why they lost.
Furthermore, you cannot run on a thesis of social issues that do not resonate with the American people. If they’re worried about filling the tank and putting food on the table, and you’re talking about government-paid sex change operations for federal prisoners, you’re going to lose.
The Trump campaign ran a commercial with a line that may live forever in the annals of advertising.
“Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you.”
That single line was a microcosm of what the Democratic Party stood for.

Joe Biden and his autopen made even more grievous mistakes.
On Day One, Unca Joe essentially removed the southern border, and allowed pretty much anyone to come in. He tried to fix that right before the election, but it was too late. The people did not want open borders; they wanted an economy that wasn’t plagued by massive inflation. But Biden had presided over so much excessive government spending that inflation went spiraling out of control. Biden’s hilariously-named “Inflation Reduction Act” and other outlandish spending spurred massive inflation, and consumer spending power went down.

How’d Biden do on foreign affairs? His withdrawal from Afghanistan cost the lives of 13 American service people at Abbey Gate, and who knows how many Afghans died. He left billions of dollars in military equipment that was taken over by the Taliban. This was the biggest military blunder since JFK’s ill-fated Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba.
The Democrats, in effect, had nothing to run on. Their key issues were left-wing social fads, and they left Americans facing stiff inflation, a country with no southern border, rising crime, a fentanyl drug crisis, and terrible race relations with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) having become the new racism. Many Americans looked at Kamala Harris and Ketanji Brown Jackson and wondered if they were the best America could offer. Or did they just check the right boxes.

Republicans saw all this and used it to put Donald Trump back in office.
When Trump took over for his second term after the four-year Joe Biden interregnum, the Democratic Party was in bad shape. Some people wondered if it was on the verge of extinction. The Republicans were able to drill baby drill, and fossil fuel was back in vogue. Gas was cheap and inflation was brought under control. So! What a perfect time to start a war in Iran.
Yes, Iran is the world’s greatest sponsor of terrorism and was behind the bloody October 7th 2023 attacks on Israel. Yes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to take Iran out once and for all. Why wouldn’t he? Iran is the driving force behind attempts to eradicate the Jewish people—you know — finish what Hitler started.
President Trump had already bombed Iran’s nuclear sites during Operation Midnight Hammer, and was generally acclaimed for doing so. Then, after word came out that Iran still had some enriched uranium, he and Netanyahu mounted a war – and not long before American midterm elections were going to heat up. The timing could not have been worse.
Iran took the brunt of American military might, but hunkered down and closed the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices shot up and so did inflation. Even people who felt it was time to address the Iran menace realized that Trump had gotten into the same morass that Biden had been in. A military operation that could have been better planned, spiking inflation, and sky-high gasoline prices. Suddenly, the demise of the Democratic Party seemed premature.
Here’s what I told President Trump on Talk 1370 (Austin) on the Cardle & Woolley Show.
Watch the timing. If you’re going to attack Iran, remember that we have meaningful elections here and Iran does not. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has all the time in the world unless we starve them out. Trump has until the November mid-terms.
Don’t make this Trump’s war. Trump always telegraphs his intentions anyway, so screw the element of surprise. Go on national TV and sell the war to the American people. Go to Congress and get the House and the Senate behind you. Finally, visit with NATO allies, get buy-in from them. Get all three of these things, and then it’s “our” war. That means the people believe there is a mission to be accomplished that will lead to a safer and better world. It means the Congress sees the reasoning and agrees, and our NATO allies, not having been snubbed, will back us up and send help.
Trump did none of this, and Democrats will pin this war on him.

While this is going on, Trump proposes a Big Beautiful Ballroom at the White House that his rich friends will pay for, and then it turns into a billion-dollar taxpayer-funded deal. Then comes the $1.776 billion Weaponization Fund that the President wants. Will either of these things make gasoline cheaper, or put food on the table, or lower inflation? No; just the opposite.
All this is the Republicans’ version of the massive errors of the Biden years.
The war may be just, but it’s causing pain at the pump. The average American doesn’t give a care about the ballroom or the fund. These are mistakes that may ring out at the ballot box.
Why don’t politicians see these obvious pitfalls and avoid them? It’s because they live in a different world where the price of a dozen eggs is unknown to them. They live in a world where every stupid government shutdown affects people like air traffic controllers, but does not affect them. Politicians make these same mistakes over and over and they never learn, and that is the definition of insanity. And these people are running the county!
They should listen to AM talk radio. We see this stuff and we talk about it every day. And they never listen. Shame on them.
